Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using TypeTalk (the "Software" or the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not download or use the Software.

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Blueprint Online Learning Inc., the company that makes TypeTalk ("TypeTalk," "we," "us," or "our"). Your use of the Software is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction to purchase a license. By buying a license you confirm you meet that age and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. The free tier has no account and no payment, so anyone may use it within these Terms.

TypeTalk is a local speech-to-text desktop application for Windows and Mac. You press a hotkey, speak, and your words are typed into whatever app has focus. The speech recognition runs entirely on your own computer. Your audio and the resulting transcripts are never sent to us.

There is a free tier and a paid lifetime license. The free tier includes the full feature set and lets you transcribe up to 2,000 words per week at no cost. The paid license removes the weekly limit. The Software works offline.

When you buy a TypeTalk license, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software on devices you personally own or control, for both personal and commercial use, subject to these Terms. Your purchase is a one-time payment, not a subscription, and includes all future updates for the life of the product.

You may not:

• Resell, rent, sublicense, or transfer your license to another person
• Share a single license across more devices than you personally own or control
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except where that restriction is prohibited by law
• Circumvent, disable, or tamper with the license activation or the offline grace mechanism
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices

The free tier requires no account and no payment. It includes the full feature set and resets every week. You may transcribe up to 2,000 words per week for free, and the allowance refreshes automatically at the start of each week. The free tier does not expire.

A lifetime license is a one-time purchase of $99USD. Payment is processed by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your card details on our servers. By purchasing, you also agree to Stripe's terms.

The $99 price is a founding-window price. After the founding window, the price may increase to $149 USD. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. A price change never affects a license you already bought.

Every license comes with a 30-day, no-questions-asked refund. If TypeTalk is not for you, email us within 30 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. Full details are on our Refund Policy page.

We release updates from time to time to add features, improve the speech model, and fix issues. All future updates are included with your one-time purchase, for the life of the product, at no extra cost. The Software may download and install updates automatically. Continuing to use the Software after an update means you accept any changes in that version.

TypeTalk runs locally, but a few outside services are involved in narrow, specific ways:

• The speech recognition model is downloaded once from Hugging Face the first time you run the app. After that, transcription is fully local and offline.
• Stripe processes payment when you buy a license.
• Email is used to send the magic link that activates a paid license.
• The apps you paste text into (your editor, browser, chat tool, and so on) are governed by their own terms, not ours.

These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, acts, or policies, and changes on their end may affect related parts of the Service.

You agree not to:

• Use the Software for any unlawful purpose or to transcribe content you are not permitted to record or process
• Interfere with, attack, or overload the license, activation, or update infrastructure
• Bypass the free-tier limit, the license check, or the offline grace mechanism
• Use the Software to build a competing product, or to extract its models or assets for that purpose

Your audio and the transcripts TypeTalk produces stay on your machine. We do not receive, store, or process them, and we claim no rights to them. They are yours.

You are solely responsible for what you choose to transcribe, where you paste the result, and how you use it. You are responsible for having the right to record and transcribe any audio you process, and for complying with the laws and the terms of the apps you paste text into.

The Software is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that transcription will be accurate, complete, or error-free. Speech recognition makes mistakes, and accents, background noise, terminology, and audio quality all affect the result.

Do not rely on TypeTalk for any safety-critical, medical, legal, or other high-stakes use where an error could cause harm. Always review transcribed text before you rely on it.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or lost business. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Software or these Terms is limited to the amount you actually paid us for your license. If you are on the free tier and paid us nothing, our total liability is zero.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. In that case, our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.

Because TypeTalk runs on your machine, it does not depend on our servers to work. A paid license is cached locally and revalidates over the internet from time to time, with a 14-day offline grace window so you can keep working without a connection.

If we ever stop selling or supporting TypeTalk, the copy installed on your machine keeps working. We are not obligated to provide new updates after discontinuation, and the free tier does not expire.

You may stop using the Software at any time by uninstalling it. We may revoke a license if you breach these Terms, including the license restrictions or the Acceptable Use section, or if a purchase is fraudulent or charged back. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including License Grant restrictions, Your Content, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law, survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the courts located in British Columbia, Canada.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Software after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Software.

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of the Terms stays in full force and effect.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Software, and they replace any prior agreements or understandings on the subject.
